John Francis Michael Hernon

John Francis Michael Hernon, 80, of Winston-Salem, loving father and grandfather died Thursday, April 27, 2023. He was born September 8, 1942 to the late Clement John and Margaret Mary Miller Hernon. He grew up in Warren, OH. Mr. Hernon was a proud veteran of the US Air Force. During his time in service, he was stationed in Guam and at Castle Air Force Base in California. He enjoyed traveling and loved animals. In additions to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Saundra Lee Hernon; and a brother, Frederick Hernon.

John is survived by his son, Sol Hernon (Rebecca) of N. Salt Lake City, UT; daughters, Dawn Rice (Tim) of Charlotte, NC, April Sargent (Mark) of York PA, and Jessica Luenser (William) of Winston-Salem, NC; 14 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Mark Hernon; sisters, Kathleen Angelo, Dyna Cressman, Dorothy Coffey, Ellen Saker, Mary Hernon, and Margaret Chiarella; and many loving nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2023 at Salem Main Street Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12:45-1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
