HOEPPNER, John
December 25, 1929 – April 14, 2018
On April 14, John Hoeppner, aged 88 went to be with his Lord. He is leaving behind his wife of almost 56 years, Margareta, his son Tim and daughter Sharon, several in-laws, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Jacob and Helena, five brothers and three sisters, his father and mother in-law Kornelius and Olga Nickel, several in-laws and his infant son Richard.
John was born in Morden, Manitoba, growing up on the family farm. He came west while working on the pipeline and settled in Edmonton when the work was finished. He attended NAIT and was a journeyman cabinetmaker; work which he enjoyed throughout his life. He will be remembered as a good husband and father, and one who liked to help everyone. After spending a year in the Zetter Care Centre, the Lord called him home quickly.
A Viewing will be held from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 19 at Serenity Funeral Home, 5311 91 Street NW. A Graveside Service will be held at South Haven Cemetery, 5004 Meridian St NW, on Friday, April 20 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial Service at Central Baptist Church, 9419 95 Street NW at 1:00 p.m.
