In Loving Memory of John Honeycutt

August 12, 1941 - July 19, 2025

John Honeycutt, beloved husband, father, Papa, and golf enthusiast, departed on July 19, 2025 at the age of 83, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

Born in Rocksprings, Texas to Theresa Mendez and John Foster (Buddy) Honeycutt, John moved to San Jose, California in the 1950's. He was the oldest of seven children and was raised by his stepfather, Trinidad Mendez, Sr. John proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1963-1965.

Happily married to his devoted wife, Margaret Honeycutt for 58 years, they raised two sons, Eric and Mark. John was a loving and supportive father who coached baseball teams and helped with homework when he wasn't traveling for work. He took the most pride in his five grandchildren; Mackenzie, Colby, Samantha, Kayla and Jake.

After many overseas work trips, John retired in 2003 with 30 years as a field engineer. Once settling in Elk Grove, California in 2005, he could often be found on the golf course or managing his fantasy football team or cheering on one of his grandkids' games. Papa rarely missed a performance or game while he was still able to attend.

John was truly an example of a life well-lived. He encouraged his children and grandchildren to always follow their dreams and never give up on their goals. His family was the most important thing to him and they are the legacy that he leaves behind.
