John from Bakoda era

Some photos I have of John. I have more that I will dig up, scan and share later.

Yesterday
I met John 1981 through my late husband Rick Arend and a band they were in called Bakoda. John and Rick were always close and continued to work on music composition together all the through the years until Rick’s passing 7/2/2012. I have many fond memories with John and his family. John, Eileen, Rick and I did anything from going to a Moody Blues concert together, pool cookouts etc.
Rick and John worked on music composition together called RAJH which stood for Rick Arend John Horton. With a few exceptions they worked on music together in the music studio at John’s house one day out of the weekend for decades. After my beloved passed, John continued to work on material the two of them built together. John took the labor of love they shared in music to the internet. You can enjoy listening to their material at

I know Rick and John are smiling from Heaven as I point you to the website that houses their work. Please do go there and listen to keep the music alive that they both loved so much and worked hard to create.
My deepest love, care, prayers and sympathy goes out to everyone in John’s family, extended family and friends.
John, I look forward to one day to hearing what you and Rick created while in Heaven one day when I see you again.
With Love,
Diane Arend

I've been fond of John ever since we met back in Chatham High. We've had a lot of laughs together as well as sharing music and lively discussions. I'm glad I got to spend time with him during our last two high school reunions. My happy memories with John as well as some of the other friends we've shared are clear in my memory. I'm saddened to hear the news and my condolences go out to his family and many friends.

Growing up visiting Uncle Johnny and Aunt Eileen's house was always one of the best parts of my childhood. It meant playing with my cousins and getting to draw on the computer with my uncle . I'm so grateful for those beautiful childhood memories.

I grew up in Chatham and remember John vividly..... We were in the same art class in high school. ....I loved art ....I remember constantlytelling him how talented he was and he would always humbly tell me that I was too....... I think he was just being polite.
So sorry for your loss.
