In loving memory of Sir John, my former neighbour for over twenty years in Maida Vale.
I will remember John as a very independant-minded individual who managed to see both sides in a debate. He always encouraged 'fair play'.
He disliked any form of racism or people being classed as different, for any reason, as a basis to criticise them.
He was very much a pro-European.
His quiet humour and zest for life, enjoyment of good food and wine, his kindness and generosity will remain with me.
Lastly, John enjoyed teasing people gently and laughing when they realised he was just pulling their leg.
He also laughed at himself as he couldn't even boil an egg without it rolling off the worktop onto the floor
RIP John.
