A very fine Officer in the RCAF and the Canadian Forces, an excellent fighter pilot and a close friend from our days in Baden Soellingen when we lived close together in permanent Married Quarters. I shall miss him, as will so many who knew him or served with him. Doug Yuill, OMM, CD3, BGen (retired). .

Dear Hutts:
We have witnessed the passing of one of Canada's finest military leaders and a fighter pilot extraordinaire. I remember fondly the hospitality of the Hutts having me over for dinner in downtown Germany. He was a great guy.

Dear Del, Susan, Johnny, Sandra and expanded family:
Such a dreadful shock to all of you and to John's great circle of friends We were in Zweibrucken and Baden-Baden together for many years. We knew the Hutts all through our long airforce career and beyond . In Baden we lived next door to one another and practically lived in both houses.
When retirement came we both ended up on the West Coast.
Sincere condolences to all the family on the loss of a great husband, father and friend.

To Del and the Hutt family, please accept our deepest sympathies on the loss of a wonderful person. Steely-eyed John was a real gentleman, an excellent pilot and great companion. Nobody enjoyed the game of golf as much as he. John will be missed, may he rest in peace.

May you Rest In Peace Uncle John. You were a very accomplished man and we were always so proud of you. Sending our love to Aunt Delores, Susan, John, Sandra and all of your families. May you find comfort in knowing that so many people loved and respected your father. He was a beautiful, talented and kind loving husband to my Dads sister Del and a great father to you all. I was always so proud of him being a part of our blended families.

John was a very special guy for a lot of us in the RCAF: those who worked directly for him as well as others, like me, who were on other squadrons but still got to experience and enjoy his leadership and camaraderie. He also had a significant and positive influence on the careers of many of us through his conscientious efforts during the time he spent as PCO Pilot. John had a great sense of humour, a quick and genuine smile and a good heart; he will be sincerely missed by the legion of friends he leaves behind. Our thoughts and most sincere condolences to Del and the entire family.

My very best memories of my career in the RCA F /CAF we're from my time on 441 Squadron when John was the Squadron commander John was a great leader who kept his Pilots on his wing and under his wing.( fond memories of being awoken at 3 a.m. on a Saturday morning by John and Mark Fairley looking for a drink and egg in the hole. One of the many great memories all our time on the Squadron.)
Dell, Irene and I send our sincere sympathy to you and your family you were the mother to the flock.
