I knew John from the mid 80's to the mid 90's in the Bay area, he was a coworker, a boss, a mentor, and a friend, in that time. I remember how proud he was at Tim, and Kyle's birth. John wrote a recommendation for my first contractors license, and gave me my first skill saw, it had been rebuilt, and had his initials on it. That saw lasted me through 30+ years of construction on countless jobs, and it now runs better than I do. I can still barely make out his initials on it. My condolences to John's family, and friends. Rest in peace John, may we meet in Valhalla.

This has been very difficult for not only me but a large group of our long time friends that still get together to either Zoom call or do some trips together. John was such a big influence and force of our group. He was definitely one of the main links in our chain.
John's infectious laugh and radiant smile will be missed more than be described. It gave you the feeling of happiness and enjoyment. It made you glad you were in John's presence. He filled the entire room with laughter and Joy.
John loved to be with family and friends and his number one fulfillment was to make everyone enjoy the moment as did he.
John and I shared the same birthday. His middle name is my first. We've always had that special bond without making a big deal about it. But we were connected like brothers in that sense.
As I would always say to him, "my brother from another mother"
R.I.P. my brother. You will be miss tremendously but you will never be forgotten.

I miss you more than words can express. You were the kindest, most generous person I´ve ever known. I was told I said John before I ever said mom or dad. Rest In Peace, John. The world world will never be the same without your generosity and your loving spirit. I miss you.

Tim and family, my condolences to each of you! I know how difficult it is to lose a parent but in your heart you know how fortunate you were to have him as a Dad! May the wonderful memories you shared give you comfort! Hugs to you, Karina and all your family

My heart is broken I miss my best friend so much .. I got to spend the last few weeks with him .. we talk about our life plans and even about death .. John was always there for me and I was there for him .. the last 10 years I would get a call all times of the night or if he was living with me we would stay up all night talking .. well my talking John was a good listener..so many stories and good times .. He´s boys are the best he loved them more than anyone .. John made friends anywhere he went when he lived with me he made more friends them I did after 30 years living here ! My daughter loved him and my mom and dad thought of him as their son .. my heart hurts they say if you had a good friend in life you are blessed I was truly blessed

It's still hard to process John's passing. I've known him longer than any non-relative. He was best friends with my cousin Ricky Rogan. I was probably about 12 when I met him through Rick and the rest of the Rogans in Laguna Beach, and later through all the years in Burbank, Chico, and the SF Bay Area. I also worked with John on a few of his construction projects in the East Bay. Our sons both attended Cal Poly.
John was a unique person. He grasped life for all it was worth and has now left us with sadness but many many smiles. I can hear his huge laugh and voice. RIP my friend.
