John "Jack" E. Heinecke

I was an Orono High School classmate of Jim's and a friend of Jack's. Some good memories of Jack, espedially as a teammate on baseball teams at school and on town teams. He was a very superior athlete who did some amazing things as a baseball pitcher. I know of the terrible things he experienced in Viet Nam and how he survived through extraordinary courage and effort. Understandably, those experiences affected his outlook on life and stole some of the happiness that would have come his way as an adult. Glad to hear that he is at rest at Fort Snelling; he earned that recognition. Best wishes to the many grandkids and great-grandkids that were such a big part of his later life.
