We are very saddened to hear of Bishop John Palmer Croneberger's passing. Our deepest condolences to his family. We knew him from The Church of Atonement and he married us Thirty years ago. He will be deeply missed.

Judy and Rich, my condolences for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Jack welcomed me into the Episcopal Church at St. Luke's Montclair in 2003. His preaching on the baptismal covenant inspired me to be received as a priest in 2010. I was privileged to take his course on Episcopal Polity. He lead by example-- warm, humorous and prophetic-- an example for all of us!

Jack was a wonderful colleague and friend when we were neighboring clergy in the Diocese of Newark. I was so grateful to have him as my Assistant Bishop when he moved back to PA a few years after I moved to the Diocese of Bethlehem. His love, humor, faith, and witness have greatly enriched my life. My condolences to his whole family, whom he loved very much.

My sympathy to your family for the loss of your loved one, Rev. John. I met him 40 years ago and was impressed by his wisdom. I believe you have all prospered from your relationship with him over the course of his life. May he rest in peace.

I only met Bishop Croneberger a few times, but he was so lovely to me when I did have the opportunity to speak to him. My favorite memory is when he confirmed me to the Episcopal Church. I was so incredibly nervous at the service for some reason. I mean, here was this man in full regalia, standing before me serenely, and I totally lost it at the altar!! He asked me for my name and I stuttered my first name, middle name, maiden name, then married name!! He kind of stifled a laugh, seeing how nervous I was. He leaned over to me and said, "Why don´t we just go with `Michelle´? God fully knows who you are!" I looked at him without thinking and replied, "Sounds like a plan!" Rest in Peace, Great Man. You totally earned it.
