John Kelly "Johnny" Jackson, 76, of Ivanhoe died Saturday, June 27, 2009, in Wythe County Community Hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 30, at 7:30 p.m. at the Liberty Hill Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Bobby Lewis officiating. A graveside service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Cemetery. He was born April 21, 1933, in Wythe County, son of the late George Thomas and Mary Magdelene Jackson. He was retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation, a lifetime member of the Ivanhoe Fire Department and a member of Liberty Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kitty Sue Morris; one sister, Golda Alley; and one brother, Charles Jackson. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Jackson; two daughters, Patty Archer of Ivanhoe and Nancy Archer of Max Meadows; four sons, George Kelly Jackson, Michael Maggard, Johnny Eugene "Chigger" Jackson of Ivanhoe and David Jackson and wife, Rena, of Wytheville; two grandchildren, and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Reese Funeral Home in Austinville is in charge of the arrangements.
