John (Jay) Madgett IV Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 29, 2023.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John P. Madgett IV, affectionately known as Jay, peacefully departed from this world in his sleep on June 26th, 2023. Jay, born on April 14th, 1969, was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many people all over the world during his time with us.

Jay was the beloved son of John P. Madgett III (Cindy) and Jeanne Belli. He will be missed by his sisters, Kimberly Schwan (John) and Robyn Madgett, his nieces, Sydney and Alexandria Schwan, and many other dear family members. He also leaves behind his beloved partner Sandy Stroud Clark and her sons Dane, Alex and Nico Clark. All were an integral part of his life. They cherished the special moments they spent together. Jay's family will forever hold him in their hearts, remembering his vibrant spirit and unwavering love.

Jay was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marian and John P. Madgett, Jr., and Elizabeth Ballentine and Melvin Belli, and recently, his stepfather, Bill Tracy.

Jay graduated from Breck high school and then the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, with a BA in Communications. He was also a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Professionally, Jay spent his entire career at Tecweigh, where he made a significant impact as a General Manager and Director in the US and Australia. Through his work he traveled the world sharing his knowledge and expertise. Jay had a unique ability to immerse himself in different cultures and forge meaningful connections with people from all walks of life.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Jay had a profound passion for the great outdoors. Whether he was skiing down majestic slopes, exploring scenic trails on ATVs, or embarking on thrilling jeeping adventures, Jay found solace and joy in nature's embrace. His love for outdoor activities was infectious, and he inspired many to appreciate the beauty of the natural world.

Jay's genuine and compassionate nature endeared him to countless friends, who knew they could always rely on him for love, support, and humor. He had an innate ability to lighten the room with his infectious laughter and bring smiles to the faces of those around him. Jay's magnetic personality attracted people from all corners of his life, and his vast network of friends is a testament to the positive impact he made in their lives.

Although Jay's departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. The legacy he leaves behind serves as a reminder of the importance of cherishing our loved ones, embracing adventure, and spreading joy to others.

In this time of profound loss, we extend our deepest sympathies to all who knew and loved Jay. May the cherished memories of his laughter, love, and zest for life bring comfort during this difficult period. Jay will forever be remembered as a beacon of light and a source of inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Celebrations of Jay's life will be held on July 7 at Colorado Funeral Home, 117 E. 6th Street, Leadville, CO, hosted by the Madgett Family and Jay's partner, Sandy Stroud Clark (a specific time to follow), and July 8 at Dillon Community Church, 371 LaVonte Street in Dillon, Colorado at 1:00 pm hosted by Jeanne Belli. An additional service will be held in Minnesota, date and location to be determined. Friends, family, and all whose lives were touched by Jay are welcome to join us and pay their respects.
