John N. Johnson, 65, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2025, with his beloved wife, Cathryn Johnson, by his side. Born in Chicago, Illinois, to Hugh and Eleanor Johnson, John lived a life defined by his devotion to his family, who meant more to him than anything else in the world.

John and Cathryn were married on March 20, 1982, building a life together filled with love and commitment. A retired union painter, John took pride in his work, but his true joy came from being a husband, father, and grandfather.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Cathryn; his daughters, Michelle Wright (Brett) and Jennifer Johnson (Jeremiah); his cherished grandchildren, Hunter, Chase, Addy, Grace, and Mason; and his treasured bonus grandchildren, Kaylyn, Lyric, Blake, Ava, and Austin. Known as the best Papa his grandkids could have asked for, John's warmth, love, and unwavering support will live on in their hearts forever.

An avid bird watcher, John found peace in sitting quietly, observing the birds with a keen eye and a patient heart. He also passed down his passion for coins and collecting them to his grandchildren, turning shared moments of discovery into treasured family memories. His gentle enthusiasm for these simple joys left a lasting mark on those he loved.

There will be no formal services, but his family plans to hold a celebration of life at a later date, details of which will be announced. John's legacy is one of family, kindness, and quiet strength, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
