John M. Jack Kametz, 82, of Bethlehem, died on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at the Hospice House of St. Lukes. He was born September, 12, 1928 in Bethlehem, the son of the late Michael and Frances (McGoldrick) Kametz. John is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Mary Ann Kametz. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. John retired from the Bethlehem Steel Co. in 1989, after serving as a Crane Operator for 38 years. John was a parishioner of Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Bethlehem. He was also a member of the Hellertown American Legion and Bethlehem MORA Club. Survivors: He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary Ann; children, John R. and his wife, Debra, of Hellertown; Jane Lowder and her husband, Larry, of Nevada and Paul and his wife, Diane, of Bethlehem. He will also be dearly missed by his sisters, Jean Yanik, of Allentown and Nancy Ihle and Janice Kametz, both of Bethlehem; as well as his grandchildren, Jonathan, Melissa, Jared, Christine, Jeffrey, Michael, Matthew; three step grandchildren, Layne, Valerie and Cody and six great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by two great granddaughters. Services: Arrangements have been entrusted to Connell Funeral Home, Bethlehem. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church 730 W. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
