JOHN KELLAR Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 7 to Nov. 8, 2018.
The family of John Andrew Kellar wish to announce his passing on October 26, 2018 at the age of 96 years. John was born in High River, Alberta on August 2, 1922 to Pete and Mamie Kellar. Soon after, the family moved to Rosebud and when he was 7 years old, they took the long trek northward to Fabyan and later to North-East of Irma where John's brother Lawrence now lives. For several years, John spent the winters in lumber camp. In 1943, he joined the army, where he met the love of his life, Eileen. In January 1946, he came back and they were married on April 10, 1946. They soon bought a farm, Northwest of Wimborne. In 1960, John and Eileen purchased the farm in the Horseshoe Lake District, where Kevin & Sienna now live. John loved the farm and took off a total of 60 harvests. In later years, they were able to travel and to spend the winters in Arizona. They spent their last years in Red Deer, due to increasingly poor health. John was an honest, outgoing, hard-working man. He was also a man of faith. John passed away at Villa Marie in Red Deer. He will be sorely missed by his family, his beloved wife of 72 years, Eileen, children Wilfred, Helen, Ron and Doris (Darci), beloved daughter-in-law, Cheryl, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Valane Hadley and children Joseph and Ella; Layvon & Stephanie Hadley and sons Stephen and Beau; Jill & Jeff Miller and children Jayden, Jude & Jovee; Shane & Megan Barrett and son Aiden; Kevin & Sienna Kellar; Ryan Kellar & Julia Gauley; Catryna Kellar and Gage Shiels; and Dallas Kellar; Ky & Taunya Kellar and children Kyla & Kyron; Karla & Greg Pittman and children Bretton & Brooklyn; Kearsten Hoffert & daughter Lia. He was predeceased by one grandson, Kyron. He is also survived by his sister Ann Peterson and Garry Larsen and brother Lawrence & Nina Kellar, Sisters-in-law, Elva Knight and Gertrude Budd. The funeral will be held at the Innisfail Legion on November 20 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Poppy Fund.
