John Michael Keller

October 25, 1945- September 28, 2023

John Keller passed away peacefully at home after a short battle with cancer. He was the son of Winston A. and Eleanor Hyde (Chick) Keller, and the grandson of the prominent Contra Costa business family George and Methie Keller, as well as Lillian Hyde Chick.

John graduated high school at Bellarmine Prep, in San Jose. After attending St. Mary's College for two years, he enlisted and fought in the Vietnam War. After the war, John married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Bieker, and helped manage his family drugstore enterprise, Valco Drug. In his retirement, John found a new passion and career and became a driving instructor for Safest Way Driving School.

John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Phyllis Diane Keller, and their two children, Michael Keller of Martinez, and Kimberli Maytanes (Tyson Maytanes) of Roseville. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Savannah, Madison, Samantha, and Jacob, as well as his brother Patrick Keller and wife Sandra. Unfortunately, since the time of John's passing, his daughter Keri Gustafson (Derek Gustafson) of Riverbank, lost her battle with cancer.

John's funeral will be held on November 20th, at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, located at 5810 Midway Rd., Dixon, CA. The service will take place at 11:30 a.m. A celebration of life will be held immediately after the service at Cattlemen's Restaurant located at 250 Dorset Dr., Dixon, CA
