John Kelley

KELLEY - John A., 97, of East Dennis on October 6, 2004. The beloved "marathon man" inspired generations of athletes, competng in sixty-one Boston Marathons. He was also on three Olympic teams and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He is the husband of Ginger DaLong Kelley of two years and the late Laura Harlow Kelley of 40 years. In addition to his legendary running feats, he was an avid painter and an active fundraiser for many charities. He is also survived by his sisters; Ruth Herlihy of Arlington, Mary Donaldson of Lunenburg and Margaret Desmond of Cambridge as well as 23 nephews, three nieces, a stepson and a stepdaughter. Visiting hours Sunday, October 10th, from 2-5 p.m. at the Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 729 Route 134, South Dennis, MA. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, October 11th at 11 am at Our Lady Of The Cape Catholic Church, 468 Stony Brook Road, Brewster. Burial is Private.
