John KNOBEL

Kay,
John and I go back over half a century. His death is a reminder to all of us to live each day as best we can.

Mr. Knobel was my principal at Corpus Christi School, and then later taught me English and World Religions at Immaculata. He encouraged and inspired me in my formative years.

My sincerest condolences to the family - Mr Knobel was a gem of a teacher and an excellent male role model for students.

When I moved to Ottawa, John was my first Principal. He later became my coworker at Immaculata, and taught across the hall from me. I was able to witness on a daily basis the kindness and wisdom of such a fine person.His gentle caring and sense of humour made him a pleasure to know. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy. My prayers goes out to you Kay, and the rest of your family.

John was such a caring and fine gentleman. Liked and respected by all those who had the privilege to know him. He will be greatly missed by all, family and friends. Please accept Kay my sincere condolences.

I just received an email from Marilyn Adair informing me of John's death. Please accept my deepest sympathy.
I have very fond memories of you and John with Clyde and me in the forty years we lived in Ottawa at our home, your home, the many social occasions with OECTA and at various parish halls. I can still hear his infectious laugh and his booming voice. He will be forever remembered and sorely missed.

I often remember John as a mentor. He recommended me as his replacement as the World Religions teacher at Immaculata High on his retirement in 1996. My son Tom was in the class when I replaced John mid-semester. Tom constantly reminded me of my shortcomings in replacing a well-loved and well-respected teacher. We will all miss an important member of the Ottawa community who served us so well!

So sorry to hear about John's illness and passing, Kay. We are thinking of you and your family at this time.

John was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. He is truly missed by many former colleagues and remembered by his many former students. He was an important and much appreciated member of the Immaculata Family as well as of RTO-ERO, District 27. To Kay and his family thoughts and prayers during these difficult days.

I got to know John as fellow students at St. Pat's, first in High School and later in College. As members of the band and cadet corp we spent the summer of 1957 at Camp Ipperwash. I always felt a certain affinity with John, both born in Holland during the dark days of WWII and fellow immigrants to Canada.

Paulette and I will always remember with gratitude John's professional and caring treatment of our son, as principal of two of the schools he attended.

I was very saddened to hear of John's death. I remember him well from my younger years. I knew him while I was still in high school and was delighted to have him as a classmate later at St. Pat's College. He was a very nice guy and will be greatly missed.

I had heard that John was ill and my cousin Charlie Cahill let me know last Saturday that he had passed away Friday night. I offer you my condolences and my prayers and know that our faith will be a great support at this trying time. John was my daughter's principal at St. Leonard's school and the last time I met him was when he played in a band at Carlingview Manor. My sympathies to the Knoble family. He will be missed.

I was one of John students at st pats , he was a great teacher, dedicated,and he made his classes fun , it was nice to see him recently at the local paint where we touched base ,my deepest sympathy to Catherine and family , as I wlll always remember that comforting smile
