AUSTINBURG TOWNSHIP — John E. Kusar, age 74, of Forman Road, Austinburg Township, died unexpectedly Monday evening, Jan. 25, 2010, at his residence.
He was born August 16, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of John A. and Rose Mary (Zakrajsek) Kusar and has been a resident of Austinburg Township since 1966, coming from Euclid. He was married to Eileen M. Duffy on June 10, 1961, at St. Ann's Church in Cleveland Heights.
Mr. Kusar owned and operated Kusar Farms in Austinburg Township. He also worked for 45 years with Local 18 Operators Union as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1997.
Mr. Kusar was a Veteran of the U. S. Army. He took diesel mechanic training in Virginia and served as a diesel mechanic with the 81st Boat Outfit.
He was a member of the Ashtabula County Cattleman's Assoc., National Bison Assoc. and helped form the Eastern Buffalo Assoc. and the Austinburg Grange. He enjoyed agriculture, raising buffalo, hunting and being with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen; three children, John A. (Ronda) Kusar of Austinburg Township, Charlene A. Kusar of Jefferson Township and Eileen M. (Owen) Stone of Austinburg Township; five grandchildren, Tim (Stacey) Palm, Owen and Rebecca Stone and John and Joshua Kusar; two sisters, Nancy J. Oros of Chardon and Rosemarie L. Vonhof of Concord Township; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William M. Kusar in 2009.
Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28th, at the Jefferson Home of the FLEMING and BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, INC., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Fred Grimm, of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Austinburg Township.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Austinburg Grange, in care of Eileen Kusar.
