WEEKI WACHEE, Fla. — John Paul La Brie, 75, of Weeki Wachee, Fla., passed into eternal rest at home on Monday, June 22, 2009 after a long illness.
He was born in Boston, but spent the majority of his life in Salem/Peabody, until moving to Florida after retiring from the transmission business in March of 1996. He was a Catholic by faith.
Jack, as he was known to many, was an avid fisherman. He was a member of Palmers Cove Yacht Club in Salem for well over 20 years. Many of those years were spent cleaning the numerous fish that were caught aboard the "Cheetah" by both he and his wife and many friends. He was always available to lend a hand when someone had engine troubles or letting friends know where to locate the "hot spots" for fish.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Lillian (Allen); his son, John Michael of Brooksville, Fla; his wife Marsha (Castetter); his daughter, Jacqueline "Jackie" Gehrisch, of Arizona/New Hampshire and her husband, John Gehrisch. He has five grandchildren, John Paul "J.P." LaBrie, II, Michelle (LaBrie) Olshefski, John Michael LaBrie, II, J. Andrew Gehrisch and Lisa (Gehrisch) Lessieur; two great-grandchildren with two more due in the fall.
ARRANGEMENTS: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the charity of your choice in Jack's memory would be appreciated. A special thought of thanks from the family is offered to all the medical professional and caregivers who have cared for Jack. www.turnerfuneralandcremation.com.

Jackie, my heart goes out to you and your family. Even after all these many years, I still remember falling off your Dad's boat! May you find comfort in such memories.
