East Weymouth - John Ananias Latak, 97, of East Weymouth, passed away peacefully at home. John was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Jean (Tabor) Latak.

He was a graduate of Quincy High School in 1945 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps shortly thereafter. John began his career as a bank teller and ended his career as President of North Weymouth Cooperative Bank, retiring in 1992. He continued serving on the Board of Directors for many more years. John was a Master Mason for 74 years in the Weymouth United Masonic Lodge and a lifetime member of the Braintree Yacht Club.

He is survived by his son David of Marshfield and his daughter Ruth Ann (Latak) Hickey of Duxbury. John was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held at Peck Funeral Homes 516 Washington St. Braintree Ma 02184 Web: peckserfvices.com on Wednesday, June 11th, from 4-7pm. A private burial will be held on Thursday, June 12th. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to NVNA and Hospice (nvna.org).

I just became aware of John´s passing
I knew John from Braintree Yacht Club as a fellow sailboater
He always had a great smile and we enjoyed many wonderful conversations over the years. I have truly missed him over the last few years. A true gentleman and he talked so fondly of his children
