He loved seeing me on our garage roof - yes, roofing.....Called over and
said 'you go girl'. Will always remember his smile and word of encouragement. John always asked about how my Mom was doing. Memories are made by the words and thoughts from others.

To the Likar family,
Robin and I were so sorry to hear about Johns passing. He was always so kind to us. We enjoyed living in the family house on 3rd street in North Versailles. Having the Likar business right behind us kept us feeling safe and watched over. We will miss that smiley face and his usual wave as he drove by. We had such a respect for a well deserving man! We tried very hard to keep his property nice, always hoping to make him proud of the grounds! We will truly miss him! Our deepest condolences.
Sincerely,
Vanessa Suncine and Robin Maxwell

To the Likar and extended family,
I am sorry for the loss of your dad/husband/pap. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time. I remember the last time I saw Mr. Likar. We were at the Hallicks fall saurkraut party and he was so kind to my husband Dave. They chatted and laughed and enjoyed each others company. He was a wonderful gentle man and will be missed in this world. I hope you find comfort in the coming days that will surely be difficult for all of you. Anita and Dave White

Dear Mrs. Likar, John, Mark, Robert, my Dear Friend Connie and Jim,
We are truly saddened by the loss of your husband and father. A dear neighbor for many years, who had only shown kindness, humor, words of widsom and encouragement to us. We, too, will miss him...mowing his yard, inspecting our projects, giving a wave and a smile.

I remember "Johnny" well. As fellow residents of North Versailles Township, we rode the bus together to Westinghouse Memorial High School. Johnny was a year ahead of me, but was friendly and approachable -- traits I valued as a shy freshman just arriving from St. Al's, the local parochial school. I haven't seen John since high school, but his eyes, as shown in the picture below, still reflect the same, amiable John I remember. I'm glad to see that he led a successful business and became the patriarch of a large family -- fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren! North Versailles is lucky to have had him remain a resident for such a long and productive time. We are all the poorer for his passing -- even those of us 50 years distant.

Dear Likar Family, Please accept my deepest sympathy. My deceased husband and I had such a fine relationship with John and the family who worked with him. It was a pleasure to discuss our housing problems with him and then have him help us solve the problems when we owned our home at 1221 Wightman St. in Squirrel Hill. Sincerely, Nancy M. Hetzel
