I was a student at CNR in the 1990´s. Professor Lukens was a wonderful teacher, and a kind and compassionate humanitarian who inspired many to do good things in the world. He planted the early seeds for me to work with people with developmental disabilities. I am so very sorry for your loss, the world was a wonderful place with him in it.

Uncle Jack is Mom's beloved brother, and we loved the whole family. I went to CNR because of him. We treasured every visit to Sea Isle, every visit to CT with David around Christmas, every phone call with Mom in later years, two siblings just happy to talk to each other. We will miss your easy laugh, your droll observations of the world, and the love of the sea. As Uncle Jack's sea-loving niece, I'm dreaming of a great and joy-filled reunion beyond the horizon with all those who have passed before.

Inspired by Uncle Jack. Loved his laugh, his commitment to caring for others and his love for the ocean. Always a joy to visit. So grateful he could make my dad laugh.

Dr Lukens was a marvelous, marvelous professor from whom I took many classes at CNR from 69-72. I still remember many of the thinks he taught me about child development and the child with developmental challenges. Though I never knew the causes he supported, I always had the sense that he was a very very nice person. I loved reading that marvelous obituary about his commitment to so many causes so I thank the author(s) for writing it. Condolences to his family.
