JOHN LYONS

LYONS, JOHN March 11, 1928 - August 30, 2018 It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to this most charming, kind, clever and very goofy character. John Joseph Lyons had recently celebrated his 90th birthday. Soon afterward, his wife of 60 years, Shirley, passed away. John's family finds comfort knowing that he has been reunited with his wife Shirley and daughter Denise Cameron. John was deeply loved by his children Christine (Jim Wright), Lorraine (Joel Bell) and J.J. Lyons (fiancée Teresa Cernigliaro). John will be fondly remembered by 'double' niece JoAnne Lyons Jones. Grandpa John will always have a very special place in the hearts of his 13 grandchildren: David, Rachel, Abby, Derek, Kina, Sean, Lindsay, Chelsea, Ross, Brendan, Zachary, Lauren, Madison and 3 great-grandchildren Declan, Grady and Avett. John enjoyed a remarkable career in Advertising, that included many award-winning campaigns. His proudest were Carling Red Cap Forever, Ford Motor Company of Canada, and the Liberal Party of Canada. During retirement, John enjoyed volunteering at the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital. John always had an interesting story to tell and enjoyed engaging others in serious conversation or goofy banter. He was a great joke teller and his sense of humour and charisma will be tremendously missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Adelaide Place Retirement Community for their care and friendship. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital Foundation, 459 Hume St., Collingwood, ON L9Y 1W8, Canada. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 13th at 1 p.m. at the Sturgeon Point Union Church, 119 Irene Ave., Village of Sturgeon Point. A reception will follow at the Wright Residence, Village of Sturgeon Point.
