John Madigan changed my life during a chance meeting in the hallway at CBS in 1982, and I will be forever grateful to him for that. I took those words, and passed them along to my sons as they were growing up, and they are better men because of him. I was able to write him and thank him several years ago, and still have the letter he wrote back to me. My deepest condolences to the Madigan family on the loss of John.

I remember him fondly. He was a great friend to my father, Clayton Kirkpatrick. My condolences to his family. America has lost another great newsman.

My sincere condolences to Betty and the Madigan family. Red was a true one-of-a-kind. He was so smart, always prepared and asked the best questions on any show where I was an invited panelist. And he checked out facts, a lost art in today's media. May he rest in peace.

I remember John fondly from our days at WBBM Newsradio 780 when all the listeners knew his famous sign off: Newsradio ssssseventy eight! My condolences to the entire family.

Sincere condolences to all of the Madigans. I still remember when you all moved in down the block on Luella -- and your dad drove that remarkable baby blue T-bird! Do I remember correctly that your dog's name was Lady? (Ours was Missy....) It's hard to believe that was all more than 50 years ago!
