John F. Mahon

December 16, 1929 - August 4, 2016 John F. Mahon Jr. (Jack) passed away in Upland, CA. Jack was preceded in death by his first wife Eileen, parents John and Kathleen, and brother Danny. Born and raised in Pasadena, he attended St. Andrew's ES and Loyola HS. After serving in the Korean Conflict, Jack married Eileen McGoldrick in 1955 and joined the LAPD soon after. Jack and Eileen raised their three children, Maura, Bridget, and John in Sierra Madre. A degree in Police Science from CSULA allowed him to rise to the rank of Lieutenant as he proudly served the LAPD for twenty years. In 1976 Jack became the Los Angeles County Marshal. Eileen died in 1981, after a long struggle with MS. Later, Jack married Betty Allyn. They lived in Glendora, Fallbrook, and Upland, CA. Jack served the City and County of Los Angeles with honor for over 30 years. Jack and Betty enjoyed retirement and travel. As an avid and talented golfer, he played some of the world's greatest courses including the Old Course at St. Andrews where he shot a 73 in 1991. Jack is survived by his wife Betty, sister Christine Hubbell (Stephen), brother Michael Mahon (Elissa Rubin-Mahon), daughters Maura Mahon (Randall Johnson), Bridget Wyatt (Robert), and son John Mahon (Shalini); grandchildren Kathleen Mahon, Joseph Wyatt, and Joshua Parmar, and great-granddaughter Madison Marks.
