John Martin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 23, 2024.
John M. Martin 1969 - 2024

John M. Martin, 55, of Long Branch, NJ, previously of Ocean Township, NJ, was born January 28, 1969 and tragically lost his life in a biking accident on his way home from work November 30, 2024.

John is survived by his true love and partner of 21 years Beth M. Goldman, his sister Lisa A. Martin and many long-time and cherished friends. John is predeceased by his father John D. Martin and his mother Theresa C. Martin.

A graduate of Ocean Township High School, Oakhurst, NJ, class of 1987, he also attended and graduated from The University of Maryland, College Park, MD.

John was a remarkable person - smart, kind, funny, warm, strong, generous, lighthearted, creative, friendly to all, witty, confident, and thoughtful. He always had a smile on his face, a positive thing to say and he made friends wherever he went. He was an extremely gifted golfer, and played Division I golf at the University of Maryland. He was also an excellent caddy and worked at golf clubs all over Monmouth County, while also working at the Shoprite of West Long Branch for the last six years.

Cremation was private, and a memorial celebrating John's life was held December 9, 2024.

My earliest memory of Jon was running around our neighborhood in Wayside as kids. We had a blast! We called him Jon Jon. We reconnected recently after many years thru golf. I wish we could have spent more time together. Jon had a great spirit and was so much fun to be around. You will be missed buddy...
