Uncle John, its "baby bunny". Words cannot describe how much I miss you. You cross my mind all the time. I know you are so proud of me and are looking down from heaven smiling and telling me to never give up and I promise that I won't. I miss hearing your laugh, and our long talks in the living room, and you always making sure I had something to eat and most importantly you always made sure our family was safe. I will never forget the times you let me and Kate ride to all the football and basketball games with you. I'm so glad we cherished those short car rides with you. Your last words to me were "uncle john is going to be alright baby bunny", and I truly believe that you are alright. I love you so much and you will always be in my heart.

He was the kindest person who always had a good personality He is surely missed.

I miss you so much. It is hard to believe that I will not see you walk down those back steps each and every morning as I get ready for my run-walk knowing you and I are the only two up at 7:00 in the morning. It is hard to believe I wont see you jogging down the road saying I got to get it in mama bunny. It is hard to believe I will not see you stop traffic on our road as Ellis and Tre run to your car to see you and you give them a box of gum to share. It is hard to believe you will not come to the back door to share protein shakes with Elvie and give the kids veggie straws. It is hard to believe we will not be able to share our ol school music throughout the day via text. It is hard to believe you will not be here to drop of waters to little bunny at college. It is hard to believe you will not close out the deck parties with your infamous music selections. It is hard to believe I will not be able to call you to say John, let me ask you something I can go on and on. We are missing you so much. I love you bro and I will see you again one day and we will continue our music jam session ❤

I was saddened to hear of John's passing. During my time at Aiken Technical College John was always a presence in our hallways, and he had something positive to say no matter the situation. I am so sorry for you loss. Sgt McCord was such a wonderful and inspiring person. I only had the chance to run into him a few time at Aiken Technical College but he was such a loving and wonderful person. He pushed everyone to follow their dreams and even gave me and my friend a tour of the Science Building when we were new. He didnt know every class room but he made it enjoyable and helped ease our anxiety. He will be greatly missed at our school and in our hearts.

I always thought it was funny when Julius would ask John when could he put the uniform on for one day, or take the car for a spin. Or when i was at ATC he would always be so embarrassing saying better get to studying or Im gonna tell Julius. John will always be Uncle John to these boys who loved and adored him. Every Halloween Julian wanted to be an officer like his Uncle John. He will truly be missed by many, I know he loved you both more thing anything in this world. This isnt goodbye, it is see you later.

As I read through the memories and condolences, I thought 'what beautiful tributes to a wonderful man!' Indeed, John, was a true gentleman, the ultimate professional law enforcement officer, role model, and, a friend.
I met John as soon as he came to Aiken Technical College as an officer, and we became good friends. Thus, I would always introduce him to my classes when he would come through the Health and Science Building. I would always say, in a friendly manner to the class, "Sgt. McCord is the one that I call if there is any 'issues' in my classroom." Of course, with Sgt. McCord stature, there were never any need to make a call!
Our ties went beyond that, we shared a belief in helping people be successful and live a good, faithful and productive lives. John chose law enforcement as a career; I chose teaching. I am active also in a prison ministry called Kairos, thus we had that common bond--the human condition and choices that are made, good and bad.
I have missed my friend since I retired five years ago from ATC. My respect for John and our friendship went on. My deepest condolences to his family. May the peace of our Lord be with you.

Sgt McCord will be forever missed. I met him back in 2011 when I first started Aiken Tech for criminal justice. He protected me from so many bad situations, he inspired me, helped me with my school work, and was just an overall awesome person. He always made me smile and laugh, he was such a beautiful person inside and out. I miss him so much. He was such a wonderful friend and an inspiration to all.

I don't know what to say except... I first met Officer McCord in 2019 when I first went to Aiken Tech. He could always be found hanging out with students and laughing and cutting up with everyone and just talking to everyone as though we were all apart of his family. He will surely be missed. Heaven gained an amazing funny sweet loving caring man. Keep smiling.

I've been working on my 'Oooooweee' for the gym. It'll never be as good as yours ... but I always follow it with your 'let's get it.' Push ups have become my warmup, and yes I use your metal bars to do them! I did yard work on Sunday and I kept waiting to hear your siren sound off when you passed my house. I miss you. I miss you so much. Thank you for always being my Mr. T and pushing me to always be the best (and happiest) I could be! You taught me so much, even when you didn't know you were teaching me. Knowing you and having your impact on my life is something I will forever treasure. I love you, John and I miss you so much.

This gentle giant was such a blessing to our community on the Ridge and throughout Aiken County. A wonderful family man, he was an outstanding professional as well. Always the first to offer outreach and support, he put such a friendly face to the police force. He will be missed and I, along with RSM Elementary School will send up our prayers for the whole family.

Mrs. Mccord and Brittany I am sorry to hear of your loss. God will take care of you thru every day, O'er all the way He will take care of you. This is Mr. Standly as John call me when he talk to you on the phone. He worked for my Uncle Charles Jenkins who owned Jenkins Produce at the Farmer's Market in Columbia, SC. John was more than protection at the college for me he was a constant reminder to do the right thing. He was a mentor for my son and call him frequently to encourage him to be a gentleman. It was not unusual for John and I to start the day by walking the campus discussing how to make things better for the community. He would speak to the youth in my church and attend community meetings to support the citizens. He also was the Deputy assigned to Old Storm Branch Baptist Church on Sunday. I pray for the entire Mccord family to be healed and find the peace that surpasses all understanding.

I'm saddened to hear about John's passing. I only knew John a short period of time but John was such a kind/loving guy. He will be greatly missed!

He was a great officer and caring person from the first day he walked through the Admissions office over 10 years ago when it was located in the 300 building up until a few weeks ago when I last saw himHe never changed. I will miss him blowing the horn or siren from the parking lot as a way of saying good morning from afar. He was liked and respected by many and will be truly missed.
