I came to know John only at the end as a care aide. But enjoyed his wit , his conversation, his swearing (how refreshing), his broadcasts. I also managed to walk into many of his bad puns, and annoy him by tripping over the bed leg. I shared too the quiet when he wanted to rest or listen to the radio. I think me and Dixie chatting drove him mad sometimes and as I was there on his last day when he wasn't speaking anymore we were talking around his bed and I said to Dixie he's probably shouting SHUT UP (or worse) at as now but that we were getting our own back. I enjoyed the few months I had with John, Dixie , Shaun and Douglas and know he leaves a big hole to fill . Cheers John I'm sure there is a Riley ,a beer, a bowl of bortch ,a tin of ham from the usa , and a big patch of gerba daisies waiting for you Jessica .
