I went to high school with John, and, since I´m in the world of finance, I had seen articles in Forbes and The Wall Street Journal about his accomplishments in the technology fields. I was pleasantly amazed--everything I´m reading in the tributes absolutely portray the guy I knew. He had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh that could light up a room. He was also a very inclusive guy--we didn´t even know what that word meant when we were seventeen! I remember him also being quite a tennis player in high school. My condolences to his wife and family.

I’m so sad to hear the news of such an incredible soul. I had the pleasure of working as John’s admin back in the Apple days. He was an incredible boss. So creative, encouraging, and FUN! He sang Frank Sinatra’s New York, New York at the end of every team party. His personality was one where everyone was a friend. I have only the fondest memories of my time working with him. My deepest condolences to the family. He will be missed.

I am shocked and saddened by John's untimely death. I first met John at Apple circa 1991 and was immediately impressed by him. We were working on a chip design together there and things weren't going well. John was every bit the wonderful human being and brilliant technologist everyone says. With his help and support, we turned the project around. The subsequent product line greatly contributed to the success Apple now enjoys today. Rest in peace, John, our condolences to your family and we appreciate your life!

John was a funny man . I was his trainer when he worked for Dell computers. He would bring his dog Maggie out for a run at 6:00 am on the golf course. I'll never forget his since of humor and his love for life !

As a board member of National Instruments, John encouraged and supported my expat assignment in Singapore. He generously coached me on how to take advantage of his extensive professional network in Asia, which greatly facilitated my adjustment to the new environment. In addition, he checked on me from time to time to share his wisdom and insights. I am grateful to have known him professionally. He will be missed

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any mans death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
