John Micklow Obituary

John C. Micklow, 82, of Russellton, passed away Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, at Harmar Village. He was born June 4, 1932, in Russellton, to the late John and Agnes (Chelpanoff) Micklow. Mr. Micklow lived in Russellton his entire life and was a 1950 graduate of West Deer High School. John was an avid sports fan, baseball and soccer player. He was the youngest member of the first Russellton soccer team. John also played shortstop for the West Deer American Legion baseball team that won the American Legion State Championship at Forbes Field. John served in the Army during the Korean War. Mr. Micklow retired as the chief observer in the metallurgical department at Allegheny Ludlum Steel, Natrona, with 47 years of service. He is survived by his wife Thelma (Gezzi) Micklow; daughter, Deborah (Todd) Berky, of Murrysville; son, Michael (Erin) Micklow, of N.C.; grandchildren, Jordan Parker, Eric Micklow, and Caroline Micklow; sisters, Marlene (Tom) Grim, of Ohio, and Pat Malisher, of Monroeville; and brothers, Al (Arlene) Micklow, of Ohio, and Mike Micklow, of Russellton. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son John J. Micklow, in 2001; and a sister, Kay Arlott. Friends and relatives are invited to attend from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at the ADAM SIEMIANOWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 179 Starr Road, Russellton, West Deer Township. Christian funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church, Russellton, with the Rev. James Holland officiating.
