John Miller Obituary

JOHN A. (JACK) MILLER Died peacefully on August 31, 2005 in San Mateo. Born in Sayville, Long Island, New York on May 6, 1916, he was a 58-year resident of San Mateo. After serving in the U.S. Navy he was employed by RCA and then Sperry Gyroscope Company from which he retired after a 37-year career. It was there that he made many life long friends. A proud 32nd degree Mason, he recently celebrated his 56th year as a member of the San Mateo Lodge number 226. In 1991, he was presented with the prestigious Hiram Award by his Lodge, a reflection of his many years of dedicated service. After retirement he stayed busy with numerous hobbies, woodworking, furniture restoration, gardening, reading, history and extensive travel. Jack is survived by his wife of 68 years, Roberta Miller; his children, Lynn Warneck and son-in-law, Ray of Sunnyvale, Gary Miller and daughter-in-law, Linda of Fredericksburg, TX, Jon Miller of San Mateo and Nancy Burt and son-in-law, Meredith of Fort Mill, SC and his grandchildren, Shelley and Steve Warneck, Allison Miller and Christopher Burt. A Masonic ceremony celebrating his life will be held on Friday, September 9th at 7 p.m. at the San Mateo Lodge #226 at 100 N. Ellsworth. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions may be made in Jack's name to your favorite charity.
