Need to add a note about the photo of my brother. The cup he's holding was our grandpa Chad's cup who was born and raised in Silsden, Yorkshire, England. The poem on the cup is in Broad Yorkshire which most people think is a foreign language. Of course, John, sister Barbara and I memorized the poem, and John would loudly recite it to us when we were in downtown Seattle just to see the reactions from people around us. Then we would just walk away. I still laugh when I think of that. You will always be in my heart and memories.

Being an older brother, John had the responsibility of picking on his little sister at all hours of the day and night when we were young. My oldest memory was of our older sister chasing him around the house with a broom because he gave me a bloody nose. It was so shocking to see my brother being chased I didn't cry. That did not stop him from finding ways to torment me over the years, but if anyone else picked on me John would track them down and they regretted it. I miss my big brother so much. Happy Trails my BBJ.

Oh John, my friend. This planet is a much sadder place without you on it. I do appreciate having known you and sharing thermals hang-gliding. I will never forget the smile and the thumbs up as we circled, looking for the same core. Your enthusiasm for life and flying was unmatched. Rest in peace my friend.

Aloha, I remember John because of his good friendship with my partner Jim Thomas . Jim also died of Parkinson´s on March 2 , 2024 . I remember fondly visiting John and Cheryl in Doreen 2 or 3 times with Jim . We had great conversations and time in nature. I think my first memory was of mountain biking with John and the boys from Parkpoint. My love and thoughts are with you all. Patricia Mullen

John had a very big love for aviation and I totally left that out of his obituary. As a child he enjoyed cleaning the belly of small airplanes to get a ride in it after! His father and being raised in Seattle fed his love for aviation. He was in Naval Avation during Vietnam. He went on to fly many planes both motorized and not! I did not know John during this time of his life but it was always a big part of who he was. He would have made a great announcer for aviation history programs. His voice and knowledge would have been a bonus!

My favorite memory with John was, I´d always beat him to his dessert order as his server. I always knew what he wanted, because it was always the same; sherbert with caramel sauce. He always had a smile on his face, and he told the best stories. I will forever remember him.
