I have had the honor and pleasure of working with Mr. Mitchell on all sorts of cases. He left an indelible impression on me as a young lawyer. He was a master at his craft and was able to connect with all of his clients in a personal and intimate way. He fought vigorously for his clients in a confident and yet brilliantly humble manner, balancing the two like a well-crafted symphony. The lessons he taught me in the practice of law has served me well. Rest in peace my friend and mentor.

Dear John and family our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Some one had sent this to us when our Father passed and I think it applies to your father as well. His heritage to his children wasnt words or possessions, but an unspoken treasure, the treasure of his example as a man and a father. Love and prayers, The Roberts Family, Chet, Jan and Lynn

John was a good friend from whom I learned many things that helped me in the practice of law. From preparing a case for trial with him to preparing a case to try against him. I will always remember his kindness and his willingness to help a young lawyer learn the "ropes"

I met John 48 years ago when I first began my law practice in Logan, WV. John was a fine lawyer who had an uncanny ability to determine the value of a case. Many years ago my client was offering $3,500 to settle a case. The Plaintiffs would not move off their $10,000 demand. On the day of the trial John looked at clients and said this case is only worth $2,500 and you should take the $3,500 offered. His clients said there was no way they would take less than $10,000. We tried the case for 3 days and the jury returned a verdict for $2,500. I will miss John.
