John Monahan Obituary

EAST HARWICH — John "Jack" Francis Monahan, Esq., a resident of East Harwich, passed away on September 3, 2009, at the Kindred Hospital at the Metro West Medical Center in Natick.

He was 78 years old and the beloved husband of the late Marion T. (Wall) Monahan, who passed away in 2008.

Born in Worcester, the son of the late Francis P. and Mildred E. (Murphy) Monahan, Mr. Monahan was raised in Worcester . He was a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Class of 1953 and the Boston College Law School, Class of 1956. Mr. Monahan was commissioned in the Navy as an ensign on December 13, 1956, was promoted to the rank of LTJG on June 14, 1958 and served honorably until his discharge from active duty on December 11, 1959.

Mr. Monahan was employed as a corporate attorney in the defense industry until his retirement. A longtime resident of Barrington, R.I. and Wellesley, Mr. Monahan became a resident of East Harwich in 1985 where he had vacationed for many years. He was a communicant of Holy Redeemer Parish in Chatham where he served as an usher.

He is survived by his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Brosmith and her husband Kevin of South Natick; and his grandchildren, Kaitlin Brosmith and Kevin Brosmith, II.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Sat. Oct. 24, 2009, at 10 a.m., at Holy Redeemer Church, 57 Highland Ave., Chatham, MA. For online guest book please visit www.everettfuneral.com.
