John Louis "Jack" Morey, 89, of Bradenton passed away peacefully on May 29th. He was a resident of Bradenton since 1979. Born in Jersey City, NJ, he grew up in Belleville, NJ, until he and his high school sweetheart, wife, Gertrude, bought their first home in Bloomfield, NJ. They raised their family and lived there 27 years. From boyhood through adulthood, Jack tremendously enjoyed summers and weekends at the family farm in Stormville, NY. Immediately following his high school graduation, Jack worked for the Prudential Insurance Co. and spent 40 years in the Actuarial Department. During World War II he was a navigator and flight instructor on B-17's, and stationed in Monroe, LA, he completed his military service as a Major in the Retired Reserve of the U.S. Air Force. He was an avid stamp and coin collector, a professional shuffle boardist, the family genealogist, and a highly successful self-taught stock market analyst. Jack embraced his civic duty and love of the City of Bradenton, and pas-sionately wrote thought-provoking research-based letters. He spoke frequently at the City Council meetings. He proudly was a member of the Mayor's Advisory Board under Bill Evers administration. He was a very frequent patron and contributing supporter of the Bradenton Public Library. Jack was on condominium association boards of the numerous retirement communities in which he lived. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Gertrude (2007) and daughter Patricia (1973). Survivors include daughter, Marilyn (Joe) Fiordaliso of NJ; son, Jack (Terry) Morey of MD; sister, Jeanne of CA; four grandchildren; three great-granddaughters.
