John Nardone Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 14, 2024.
We are saddened to share the news that John Nardone, Founder and President of Modern Tools, Inc. passed away suddenly on April 4, 2024. John was a self-made man who was widely respected by his many colleagues, friends, and family. Over the last 35 years, he grew a small machine tool company into a very successful business that is the legacy he proudly passes down to his children.

John spent over 40 years happily married to the love of his life, Susan, and they lived their lives to the fullest. They had spent the last ten years being "mudbirds" - as soon as ski season ended, they packed up their golf clubs and headed south to Venice, FL. In addition to Susan, he leaves behind his son, Erik and wife Leah, his daughter Emily and husband E.J., his grandchildren James, Violet, and Avi, to whom he was the adored "Gingka"; his sisters Jacinta Nardone and Gina Sutcliffe, her husband Tom and many other beloved family members.

John's presence was the bedrock of his family, offering unwavering support and guidance throughout his life. Many people outside his family also looked up to him for his wisdom, humility, and counsel. He was considered a great friend, mentor, and a respected patriarch figure.

An avid skier and golfer, John pursued these passions with the same vigor and heart that he applied to every aspect of his life. He loved nothing more than spending time with family in his home in VT. His tenacity on the slopes and the fairways was admired by many, and his absence will be felt in these places by those with whom he enjoyed them.

Renowned for his punctuality, it is with a touch of John's humor that the family imagines he would remind us all not to be late for a celebration to honor his well-lived life. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 26 from 11:00am-3:00pm at Bear Hill Golf Club, 2 North Street, Stoneham, MA 02180, with Words of Remembrance from 12:00-1:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, his family suggests donations be made in his memory to Grace Cottage Hospital, 185 Grafton Road, Townshend, VT 05353.

John's legacy will live on by all who knew him and we will feel his presence in every memory. Swing on, John, where the fairways are eternal, the greens forever manicured, and the slopes loaded with powder on a bluebird day.

I remember John from elementary school at St Augustine´s. He was very quiet and shy and a very nice boy! My family moved so I left st. Augustine´s after the 6 th grade and never knew where anyone " landed". He obviously outgrew his shynes and I´m happy to hear how successful he was! RIP, John! My sympathy to his family!

Jack and I were running mates during the Junior High School days and I was stunned to learn of his loss at our recent 50-year Westerly high school reunion. His yearbook picture was posted at the reunion and he was missed and fondly remembered by many.

Our deepest Condolences to Susan, Erik and Emily. John was a great mentor to me personally and played a part in shaping my career. Even after 20 years, I remember the fun times we had driving around New England selling Machine Tools like it was yesterday. You come across all different types of people in Life, but John was one of those people you remember. Thoughts and Love from the Patman Family in Australia.

Dear Susan, Erik and Emily, our deepest condolences to you and your families. Sorry to hear the terrible loss of John who was a magnificent man, truly genuine and upheld values that defined him as a wonderful human. I first met John when I relocated to Boston for work. John was super friendly and took the time and effort to help me settle in. John had it all in spades, his passion, charisma, magnetic aura, his huge smile, love of life, he had a real presence among people. John will certainly be missed by the many people he touched, not only his own family and personal friends, it includes his extended ANCA family and friends (customers). John will never be forgotten, the fond memories and fun moments will live on forever. Rest in peace John, may we someday share laughs and stories again, your Aussie mate Andrew.

My deepest sympathy to Sue,Erik,Emily,Jacinta and Gina and to all who knew and loved "Jack". Jack was my best friend Gina´s older brother and always a smiling ,strong man! The last time I saw him was at his father´s 90´th birthday party and Jack still looked the same as when we were kids over 50 years ago! May your many wonderful memories comfort you during this challenging time. Love, Martha Rice
