October 8, 1941 - July 19, 2017
Doug passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the age of 75. Born October 8th, 1941 eldest son to the late Eric and Verna (Munro) Nicholls. Beloved husband of 53 yrs to Patricia (nee Saunders). Cherished father of the late Jennifer Robicheau (David), Erika Hanson (Brian) and Andrea Nicholls (Theo Mavraganis). Much loved Grandfather to Brittany, Brandon, Sydney, Connor, Maier, Jordan and Kennedy. Dear brother of Kenneth (Nicole), Andrew (Audrey). Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a "Celebration of Life" Monday July 24th, at 11am. Location: Britannia Yacht Club 2777 Cassels Street, Ottawa Ontario. Reception to follow in the lower lounge.
Doug was a huge supporter of youth sports in the Ottawa area, sitting on many boards and committees in his lifetime; Rideau Canoe Club, Vorlage Ski Club, National Capital Ski Team, Britannia Yacht Club to name a few. In lieu of of flowers, the family wishes to continue Doug's support of youth sport by suggesting memorial donations to two Youth Sport organizations; Ottawa River Canoe Club https://ottawarivercanoe.wildapricot.org/In-Memoriam-Doug-Nicholls
These funds will be used to purchase a new boat launched in Doug's name to support the youth program and /or The "Learn to Sail" youth program at the Britannia Yacht Club.
