Dear Genina,

On behalf of the United Methodist Missionary Association I would like to express however belatedly our appreciation for all that John did for and with missionaries personally and professionally.

Helen and I also enjoyed a Yankees game with him and Steve Goldstein.

Dear Genina, we are so sorry about your loss of that wonderful man, John. He was an inspiration to so many of us here in Big Moose, and especially those of us at the Big Moose Chapel. The Marks family is so very sad to hear of John's passing-I am sure that my father Charles Marks, who helped him along in his ministry was there to greet him along with our heavenly father, we were blessed to have had John in our lives!!

As a clergy colleague of mine and one of my predecessors as Superintendent of the Mohawk District of the Upper New York Annual Conference, I respect him for his deep and strong faith, passion for ministry, theology and his spirit of love and grace. He will remain in my heart and continue to enrich my life.

I will always remember John as being our theologian in residence at licensing school. He had a wonderful blend of challenge and encouragement. His mentorship lead me to following God's call in the United Methodist church, for which I am most grateful. I will miss my mentor and friend. May God comfort all those who loved him.

Kristen and I are saddened to hear of the death of your loved one. As newly assigned missionaries in residence for the General Board of Global Ministries we did not enjoy the pleasure of great personal connections with Rev. Dr. Nuessle. We have however been blessed by the legacy he left with our missionaries and staff. All of those who knew him speak with great praise. May you feel comfort in the memories you have of him and may you feel delight in the great impact that he had in mission and ministry of the United Methodist Church.

With the passing of John Nuessle the United Methodist Church and indeed the world has lost a great leader. His knowledge, insights, skills, abilities and dedication made the world a better place. I had the privilege of working with John at the General Board of Global Ministries and admired his leadership. We became good friends at work and socially. His beautiful, winning smile and hearty laugh always made one feel better.

It hurt to talk with him in recent months as he fought so hard to battle the disease that took his life. Thank you Ginena for the loving care you gave him through this difficult time for both of you. May God give you strength and healing in the coming weeks.

How very sad that John is gone from among us. I am so glad that he and you got to go to India last year with our dear friends, Bishop Suda and Prema. I will be in touch.

John and I were ordained together as Deacons and as Elders in the old NNY Conference and therefore were at many points working together in the early parts of our careers. His dedication to the work of the church, both in its local and in its national and international arenas will be sorely missed. I will miss his smile and his hearty greetings even as our years have meant we have seen each other less and less. Rest in peace.

I am very surprised and sorry to hear of John's passing. I remember when we pastored together several years ago. He was a good friend and brother in Christ.
