Dad - I'll never forget laughing and crying with you over the years. I've never known anyone who knew so much about so many things and I'll surely miss trying to solve the world's mysteries with you like we used to do after everyone else retired. You've left behind a tremendous family and you can rest in peace knowing that you touched so many people in such a positive way. I love you and I miss you.

Words do not seem to be able to express what we feel at times like these. Please know we share your pain and hope you begin to move through this difficult time carrying with you the fond memories, teachings, and love a father gives a child...

I was very lucky. By the time I came to meet Mr. O'Brien, he had been retired for more than 10 years. Gone was the stress of working and worrying about how to support an ever expanding family. He had plenty of free time and a strong desire to be put to use. I learned that I could count on him for advice on all sorts of matters, from making simple home repairs to understanding complex O'Brien women. He was very intelligent. He never butted in but when sought out he always answered the call.

What I will remember most were the playful taunts and sneers he directed at me - more than any compliment, his teasing told me I had made the cut and was welcome to stay.

I will always feel a special responsibility to Mr. O'Brien because I married his beloved baby. It was impossible to be in the same room with the two of them and not feel his tractor-strong feelings for her. He was so proud of the woman and mother she became.

Now it feels like the time to make him proud by taking care of ourselves. He did the best he could by us for so long and now I pray that he rests in eternal peace. I shall not forget him.
