John O’Connor Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 15, 2025.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John Patrick O'Connor, a devoted husband, cherished father, loving grandfather, and proud great-grandfather, who departed this life peacefully at the age of 90.

Born into a large Irish-American family in Brooklyn, NY, John was one of eight siblings. Raised with a deep sense of Catholic faith, hard work, and love for family, his life was a testament to those values.

John served honorably as a radio technician in the United States Army. It was during his time stationed in Germany that he met the love of his life, Katharina Dorsheimer. Together, they built a life rooted in love and family, eventually settling in Edison, NJ, to raise their seven children.

A proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 14, John worked for decades as a crane operator. He took great pride in his work, providing for his family. John's legacy lives on through his 7 children, 15 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

John Patrick O'Connor lived a life guided by his strong Catholic values and Irish humor. He leaves behind a legacy of family, integrity, and enduring love. A wake will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Avenue, Edison. A Funeral Mass will follow on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, 37 Plainfield Avenue, Edison.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, Diocese of Metuchen.
