My Doctor

October 11, 2014

I recently heard of the passing of Dr. O'Kelly. My deepest condolences to his wife and family. I was his patient from May to Sept '13. His sincere, honest words will stay with me forever. God bless, and may his family live in joy, knowing that his light and love, will follow them through their lives.

Just heard of Dr. O'kelly's passing.

My sincere condolences to his family and colleagues.

As one of Dr. O'kelly's former patients, I am so grateful to have taken part in his ETP. He helped me deal with my past so I could have a positive future. If it was not for Dr. O'kelly, the ETP staff and the work they got me to do, I am not sure I would still be here. I will always be grateful for everything I learnt from all of them.

Rest in Peace Dr. O'kelly

Dear Sheila and family,
I was deeply saddened to hear of the loss of John. Like so many I have fond 'John' moments that brings a smile when you think of them. Everyone that was fortunate to have known John a lot or a little bit know what a great man John was. That is a great legacy to leave behind. Love to you all.

I was very sorry to read of Johns untimely death in The Irish Times. We were classmates in primary school in Castlebar before he moved to Galway. We qualfied in medicine in 1973, though i was at UCD and both became psychiatrists although our paths seldom crossed

Dear Sheila, I've just heard of your sad loss in an e-mail from Declan. I had a long chat with John over breakfast in Killarney at the last re-union. He was the same kind and helpful person I had known during six years at university. Sheila and I send our sincere sympathy . You remain in our thoughts and prayers.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I was John's student many years ago and was fortunate to have had him as a teacher. I was also lucky enough to hear him play and sing and to experience his deep love of music.
I will not be able to attend the wake but I will think of John and sing a song for him and remember.
In sympathy,

Dear Sheila and all of Johns family,
I was so devastated to hear the news of John just this Sunday from Joe. Unfortunately I did not even know that John was ill. I can only imagine the grief and pain you are all suffering. Reading through this guest book has reminded me of so many stories and how kind John and Sheila were to us when we came to Ottawa. Somethings remain unforgettable . I know how proud John was of his beloved Sheila and all of his family .I am so sorry I cannot be there to tell you how much he and Sheila meant to me. I shall remain forever grateful . I am so very sad he was taken so prematurely and so privileged to have known him.
With shared sadness,

There are no words for this. We have many fond memories from the first day we met the family; John, Sheila, Cian and Ronagh when you arrived in St. Albert after your long drive from Ottawa in your big white car. Who can forget the parties we had when we would beg John to sing the Combine Harvester and other favorites? Love and condolences to all of the family both near and far.

Dear Sheila and family.... John was an amazing person that I will remember forever. I'll never forget how he took Frank under his wing when Frank started triathlon in 2001. Their week spent at the National training centre in Victoria in 2002 was a great experience for them both. Frank spoke of it often, they had so much fun there.
His leaving us too soon is so sad and seems so unfair, much as when Frank passed just 3 years ago, but we must remember all the fun he brought into people's lives and his humour and very kind heart. I was so glad I saw him at Servus before he got too sick and enjoyed a little chat with him. I wish him gods speed to heaven where I'm sure Frank will be waiting to show him the ropes.... ??

Dear Sheila and family;
We are heart-broken for your loss of husband, father and grandfather. John was a loving, kind, caring and multi-talented man who will be missed more than he could have imagined. He touched people with his quiet, self-depricating manner, but he also helped so many of his friends during times of crisis, doing so on his own time and not as part of his practice. They and their families will surely be forever greatful for his wise counsel and willingness to help friends. He was a determined athlete who brightened many social functions of the original St Albert Roadrunners Club. His friendship with so many will be one of countless lasting tributes to a life well-lived.

Remembering a loving friend who made us laugh with all his hilarious stories. A friend who was not afraid to get up on the stage and deliver great comedy. A musician who entertained time and again with his version of "Yesterday". For all those times, thank you John. We will miss you very much. Margaret and Kevin.

John was my older much admired cousin who was the first of us to go to medical school. He was great fun in a group. , good company and I still remember his stumbling attempts to learn the guitar, at which he succeeded admirably and his singing and guitar playing enriched many an occasion. He was a very kind man and I will always remember his kindness to me and non judgemental support at a difficult time . I am sorry he had died so young , having to leave a much loved wife and family. I will remember him with great affection.
