John OMalley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 27, 2025.

John Michael "Johnnie"

O'Malley, aged 70, passed away on August 8, 2025, in Cocoa Beach, Florida after a brief illness. Born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, he was a dedicated auto body technician who spent many decades mastering his craft. Johnnie was known for his complex and loving nature, often described as a hard worker who was particularly meticulous in both his professional and personal life. His retirement job, as a Walmart Greeter in Titusville FL, brought him great joy. He loved meeting and greeting so many people.

Johnnie attended Braintree High School, where he first developed his lifelong passions for cars, motorcycles and nature. These interests stayed with him throughout his life, leading to days spent working on his vehicles, shopping for the latest deals, tending to his plants, and enjoying the tranquility of the beach.

Johnnie loved his Boston sports teams, as well, especially the New England Patriots and Boston Celtics. His sister Barbie made sure he had the Celtics Championship gear in 2024 to wear proudly down in Florida.

He is survived by his siblings, Barbara, Kevin, and Stephen O'Malley, brother-in-law Skip Richter and beautiful cousin Mary Ann, along with several nieces, nephews, grand niece, and grand nephews.

Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lillian O'Malley, and his precious sister, Maureen Richter.

In accordance with his wishes, his sister Barbie brought him home to Massachusetts and will be laid to rest with his parents.

Services will be private.

Johnnie's memory will be cherished by those who knew him as a complicated, yet profoundly dedicated and loving individual. His presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Now dear cousin I am 7_ and once again , have experienced you leaving...and I am sad...
In between 7 and 7_ I have, such funny, loving , kind, moments of life, when we met... Thank you for your care, love
One friend said that Maureen, your sister came for you and NOW so very many of our family, are there in heaven, it must feel, like "HOME"... For that I am grateful...

Johnnie... I brought you home... I promised. Mom and Dad are waiting... No more pain, no more suffering, no more anxiety. Moe came down and got you, apparently Mom was giving her a headache! . Finally, some Peace for you, eternal peace. I always told you, none of us could change our pasts, only our futures. I know you and God are having some conversations, that´s OK. Breathe now, your lungs are clear. Give Mom, Dad, and Moe a big kiss from me. I love you big brother. Please now Rest. Barbie
