John PARIS Obituary
August 28, 1925 - January 6, 2016
John passed away at Strathmore Hospital. He was born to Jean Pierre and Elizabeth of Langdon, AB. He started school in Langdon and, at the age of 10, the family moved to Cheadle where he continued his schooling at the Fairplay School and met the love of his life, Doris Drake. They were united in marriage on January 25, 1947 and spent 68 marvelous years together. John loved the farm and spent his life involved in agriculture, grain farming and raising livestock. He was also involved in real estate, eventually forming JonDor Real Estate. He devoted his life to his family and his community. John was the founding president of the Cheadle Lions Club, a long-time member of the Sodbusters, and an active supporter of his neighbourhood churches. Left to mourn his loss is his loving wife Doris; son Guy (Wendy); daughter Marlyn (David) Townsend; grandsons Jason (Kerri) and Douglas (Yolanda); and great-grandchildren Tia, Lucas, Alex, Isaac, and Reid. John was predeceased by his parents, sisters Martha (Rob) Jackson and Mary (Ed) Barlow, and brother-in-law Bob (Phyllis) Drake. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made directly to the Cheadle Lions Club Hospice Fund (Box 22 Site 3 RR1, Strathmore, AB. T1P 1J6). Dear Cousins - I may have met John sometime in the mid 1950's, on a trip to visit your grandfather, my great-uncle (my favorite great-uncle!). From myself and my extended Vancouver branch of the Paris family, my best wishes at a sad and difficult time for your family. I am the third of Roger and Betty Paris' eleven children. Roger was one of the sons of JP's brother, Pierre. Perhaps, one day, we can meet. My son, a niece and nephew all live in Calgary.
