Tragically, on Monday, July 21, 2014. Son of the late John L., Sr. and Doris Schmitt Parkes; beloved fiancé of Carol A. Lapaglia; brother of Charlene (Harry) Brosky, Diane (Ronald) Johnson, Ronald (Sharon) Parkes, and Timothy (Jackie) Parkes; also survived by nieces and nephews. Friends may call Friday 2-7 p.m. at O'BRIEN'S, 3724 California at Cooper Aves., N.S. Funeral Mass in St. John of God Parish-St. Mary's Church, Saturday 10 a.m.

I am so, so sorry Carol to hear of your loss. I only found out today. I knew Jack since 1977 and was a good friend. He will be surely missed. Tell Joe G. that my prayers are with him also. I remember meeting up with him again in high school and the times I saw him later on here and there. I never remember him not smiling. Carol, I am speechless the pain you are going through and the road ahead of you I can't even imagain. I am here for you if you need to vent, cry, or just to be near anything. I know this seems unreal but as time continues to go on so will you, with the love you guys shared and the memories you have will keep you strong, and I know at this time the pain you feel seems like it won't ever go away but it does ease up and you manage to pull it together so how so way and it gets a little easier to cope with.
