In memory of

John David Peck

Add memories that will last forever

Not sure what to say?

My memory of David is ancient: he took me to our Charles H. Milby High School prom in 1965. What I want everyone to know is that he was a true Texas gentleman, even in his youth! Wish I had "kept up" with David throughout the years; glad to be assured that his character only grew to be more golden. Until we meet again, you will be remembered by many, including the Reverend Sharon D. Horne.

Its so true, David was a selfless person always willing to help someone out and provide. I will never forget sailing with him and Kenny, Ricard Avila, Phil Farrington and the rest of the sick mates. You will be missed and thanks for all the PBR's!

Cheers!

What a great loss to so many people. David you were one of a kind.
Always giving always sharing. You gave your home in Spicewood so freely and let us keep the boat there and go whenever we wanted. I enjoyed so much working at the posse with you. You will be missed alot but are in a better place. Prayers are with your family and friends at this time. John and Cheri Morgan

Although I haven't kept up with David since I left Austin in 1969, I was saddened to hear of his passing. David and I went to high school together as well as UT from '65-'69, when I left for California. I was probably one of the first (unofficial-no W-9's and all cash minimum wage or lower in those days)employees of "The Posse" right after it opened.
I was not surprised to read of all the lives that David touched so positively. My heart goes out to his close friends and loved ones.

David, You were my first true love. We dated for five years, then went our separate ways. Sounds like you lived a life that was yours, shared it with others and never used that hideous Calculus course you had to take at UT for your engineering degree. Good for you!

Rest in peace,

Randy C.

David, I am sooooo sorry to hear of your passing. Haven't seen you since a long-ago high school reunion but well-remember you and your parents living behind me when we were small and what a great fellow you turned out to be. R.I.P. to a great and missed man

My condolences to the family and friends of David. We walked the halls of Milby during the same time. Goodbye to a fellow Buff.

David was a good friend. I was one of his bartenders while I was going to U.T. in '74-'75.

Childhood memories… Your Mom hoped you would marry one of the Speights girls but you were our “brother”. All the square dances at Charleston Park and dances above the fire station were happy times. We all grew up and moved away but those memories will always be in my heart.

How many games of 42 or Moon did we play at the Posse East? About as many pitchers of beer! David was a true class act and the Posse won't be the same without him.

Many of the business principles that I adhere to at my restaurant, I learned from David. I will never forget his easy manner and smiling face.

Adios amigo. Thanks for my first bartending job and for an unforgettable family of friends at the Posse.

David, you will truly be missed. You are a true folk hero in this Austin community, highlighted by your Posse East. I frequented Posse East in 1971 back when it was called Prufrock. My first date with my wife (38 years of marriage this month)was in David's bar (a classy choice, of course!). David had a way of making it all friendly and looking easy. David had and has many great staff who worked with him for many years...he must have been doing something right! We'll miss you man, and thank you for the many great times we had because of you.
