Prof John Frederick Pickering

It came as a shock to learn that John had died and brought with it great sadness and sorrow for the loss of a very dear friend.

In latter years we had seen him less often but he was always at the end of a telephone for wise advice, help and indeed laughter. He had a wonderful sense of humour.

John was highly principled individual and would always stand up for the underdog, fight the system and go that extra mile even to the detriment of his own health and well being. He was a giant of a man and will he sorely missed both locally and nationally. We will always remember him.
