John Power Obituary

John "Sean" Power died at Catholic Charities Hospice, Fort Lauderdale FL, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 78 years old.
Mr. Power was born on November 2nd, 1939 in Dublin, Ireland to his parents, Leo and Mary Power. After leaving school, John moved to London, England, and then emigrated to Madison, NJ in 1964. In 1969, he married the love of his life, Claudia D. Power (nee Lindstrom). He worked for the Sisters of Charity, Convent Station, NJ for 34 years as a painter. He retired in 2003
After retirement, Mr. Power moved to Pompano Beach, FL in 2010 to be close to his sister Ellen. He enjoyed spending time at the beach, walking their dog "Taco", taking road trips to NJ to see his son Ryan, and spending time with his favorite neighbors Jeffery and Christine.
Mr. Power was predeceased by his loving wife Claudia in October,2000. He is survived by his son, Ryan and partner Danielle Sedita of Morristown, NJ, Sister Ellen Boyne of Pompano Beach, FL, and Brother Joseph of Dublin Ireland.
Mr. Power will be cremated and his ashes scattered in a private ceremony, at a time and date to be determined later. A memorial mass will take place on February 16th, at 10:0am at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate John's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in his name to the Broward County Animal Care and Adoption Center, 2400 SW 42nd St. Fort Lauderdale FL, 33312.
