My deepest sympathies to the Quain/Watson families. So many fun times were had at Kingsmere over the years, swimming, sunning, golfing, regattas...Hammy was always so welcoming and a fun and very interesting guy to hang out with. May your memories help you through this tough time.

Thinking of all of you at this time. Hammy was an enigma to me as a young person. I remember watching him do yoga and it may have been the first time I saw anyone do it. Who knew it would become the dominant subject of my life. He held such a positive,thoughtful, brilliant and humorous presence. I never met anyone quite like Hamilton Quain....he was one of a kind. I did not see him for many years but always has a place in my heart as does Randa. I suppose it is not surprising the Quain boys are the impressive men they are.
Love to all who are grieving this loss, and special thank you to Nick for sharing his remarkable family with me in my youth.

Thoughts and prayers to the Quain's and Watson families. Only met Hammi on a few occasions but enjoyed his company and learning the many stories via the Watson boy.My Father in law(Bruce Hayes) was asking about him recently as they had done business together over the years. Dear Nick and Quain family,
Stewart and I returned very early this morning from travels overseas and learned of the passing of Hamilton we are so sad to hear of this and offer you our most sincere condolences. We are sorry to not have been able to be with you yesterday.
Stewart reminisced about his tennis matches with Hamilton and his visit with him a few months ago. As we've shared with you Nick, Hamilton's vision of so many years ago created the paradise that we all so enjoy up at Island Lake. Stewart and I often think and speak of him, of our walks in the bush and long outdoors conversations during those early years. And our talks with Hamilton and Cliff as we staked out the land and your Dad laughing so hard at us! There is not a day that goes by without us reveling in living up on the mountain in this magical place and that is because of your Dad.
Hamilton will forever be part of the "spirit" of Island Lake and never forgotten.

Condolences from those of us at the Grace Manor that came to know 'Ham' in his last years. He was a gentleman that I could tell. Each night I visited with my wife he would shake my hand or give me a wave. He also had a loud whistle that he could use to get me over to him if he felt he wanted my attention. RIP

The end of an era. I knew Hammy well at the Rideau Tennis Club. The Quain's were nobility there, along with the Steer's, the Neelin's and my late father and mother-in-law, Tommy and Lillian Griffith. Tommy played regularly with Red senior. Quain and Quain facilitated the adoption of my wife, Nancy Griffith. What a wonderful gift! Sincere condolences to the family.

Condolences to John, Paddy, Nick and the rest of the Quain family. Hammy was a Champion on and off the courts. He perfected the reverse boast to where that shot is known as a "Hammy".
