John Calvin Rasor

John Calvin Rasor of Yarmouth, ME and Pittsford, NY died March 28, 2024, at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough, ME. He was 91. John was born August 21, 1932, in Toronto, Canada the son of Kenneth Rasor and Mary Forrester-Moffat Rasor.

He is survived by his sons Mitchell Howard Rasor of Yarmouth, ME and John Scotland Rasor of Philadelphia, granddaughters Eleanor (Pie) Rasor and Rose (Lulu) Rasor of Yarmouth, ME, and sister Evelyn Rasor Lawrence of Inverness, FL.

In his final days he was surrounded by loved ones including Adriane Herman, Landis Hudson, his granddaughters, his son Mitchell, and the dedicated doctors, nurses, and staff of the Maine Veterans Home.

He was predeceased by his wife, Esel Marie Howard Rasor.

John is also survived by many close and treasured friends including Carl Langsenkamp of Webster NY, Robert Wagner of Rochester, NY, Robert and Sandra Mauceli of Novato, CA, Furaha Moye of New York, NY, Laurie Riedman of Canandaigua, NY, Phillip and Lillian Silver of Rochester, NY, Donna Lipari of Rochester, NY, Annie and Colin Poulter of Pittsford, NY, and Jeffrey Simek of Daytona Beach, FL.

After serving in Korea, John graduated with a degree in Journalism from the University of Florida. He worked as a journalist for The Associated Press and the Tampa Tribune. He retired as Director of Worldwide Public Relations for Xerox.

John was a member of the founding board of GEVA, a regional stage company in Rochester, NY. He was an avid gardener, tennis player, lover of literature and the arts, and cared deeply for his pet dogs and cats.

John was a member of the First Unitarian Church of Rochester, NY. A memorial service will be held in the gardens at 1PM on June 21, 2024.
