John Riley Sr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 15, 2024.
John David Riley Sr, 90, passed away peacefully, and made his way to the Lord on January 10, 2024.

Born on October 19, 1933, to the late James W. & Julia (Cameron) Riley, in Gloucester, MA. John grew up in Exeter, New Hampshire, until joining the United States Navy, and serving in the Korean War.

His time in the Navy, fatefully led him to Texas, where he met his precious wife, Doris. John and Doris were married 58 years, before Doris passed away in 2011. This past November would have been their 70th wedding anniversary. Shortly after marriage, John and Doris relocated back to New Hampshire, and brought seven children into the world.

John was truly a jack of all trades. He was skilled in many areas, which led him to a career with Eastern Propane, as a Serviceman, and retired after 40 years.

John was a friend to many, and true Irishman who could strike up a conversation for hours with someone he just met.

John was a Godly man. He spent much time studying the bible, and being a spiritual leader to many. John put his faith in God always, and is now reunited with Doris, and his parents.

In addition to being predeceased by Doris and his parents; John is also predeceased by two great grandchildren, and daughter-in-law Cynthia Riley.

John's legacy lasts with his brother, James B. Riley & Wife Penny and John's children; John David Riley Jr., Rosetta Saunders & Husband Mark, Pauline Friars & Husband Jeffrey, Dal Ray & Wife Joanne, Carrie & Husband William, Victoria Gbewonyo & Husband Hugh, and Mickey Riley. In addition 20 grandchildren, several great grandchildren & great-great grandchildren, as well as his family in Christ, and all the friends who he loved and whom loved him.
